16- change the following into indirect speech:
(i)- He said to me, “Why have you not done this work?” Ans- He asked me why I had not done that work. (जब हम
direct speech को indirect मे बदलते हैं तो reporting verb ( said to) question होने के कारण ( asked) बन जाता हैं, why जैसा word
same रहता हैं । “Have not done” (present perfect) होकर “had not done” (past perfect) हो जाता है, और ‘this’ का ‘that’ हो जाता है।
2–he boys said, “let us go to play.”
Ans: The boys suggested that they should go to play.
(यहाँ “let us” है, इसलिए एक suggestion है, इसलिए reporting verb “said” को “suggested” में बदलते है। “let us go” को replace करके “that they should go” लिखते हैं।
(17) Complete the following Sentences
(1)– If you had worked hard, you ……..passed in the examination.
Ans- If you had worked hard, you would have passed in the examination’
( ये third Conditional Sentence hai (इसका मतलब , अगर past मे एक काम हुआ होता (मेहनत) तो उसका result past मे कुछ और होता। (If + had + past participle, would have + past participle))
(ii)- He worked hard so that he ….pass
Ans- He worked hard so that he might pass.”Might” का use future possibility बताने के लिए किया जाता है – जो की इस Sentence के हिसाब से बिलकुल सहीं है।
