था, जिसमें translation mother tongue से English में और Vice-Versa करवाया जाता था। Direct method ने इनको reject किया ,और
कहा कि English को सीधे English से सिखाना चाहिए, बिना translation के ,इसलिए Direct Method Translation-cum grammar
method के खिलाफ एक reaction था।

Ans-The teacher asked the students why they had not completed their homework. जब Direct speech को Indirect speech
में बदलते हैं तो -Reporting verb (said to) बदल कर asked या inquired हो जाता है। Question form बदलकर Statement form(Subject + Verb) मे लिखते हैं ,Pronoun और tenses भी बदलते हैं।

(14). Correct the following Sentence
(i) As soon as I came, it begins to rain. Ans – As soon as I came, it began to rain. यहाँ first clause past tense (“came”) मे है , तो दूसरा भी past मे होना चाहिए।
(ii) The climate of Kashmir is healthier than Delhi. Ans- The climate of Kashmir is healthier than that of Delhi. (Comparison मे दोनो जगह same form होना चाहिए, kashmir than that of delhi.)
15 – Write an application to the Principal of your college requesting him to grant you fee concession. (Do not write your name or address).

Structure: Introduction → Everyone should have an aim in life.
My aim → मेरा aim क्या है (teacher, doctor, IAS, etc.)
Reason → क्यों चुनना चाहते हो।
Conclusion → आप उससे समाज / देश की सेवा कैसे करोगे।
17) Write the meaning of the following idioms and phrases:
(i) Null and void – Having no legal effect, invalid.(जिसका कोई कानूनी महत्व न हो) (ii) Ups and downs – Good and bad times.(Life में आने वाले अच्छे-बुरे समय)
(18) Transform the following sentence into negative (without changing the meaning):
Sentence: As soon as the bell rang, the boys came out of the class.
Answer: No sooner did the bell ring than the boys came out of the class.
Rule: “As soon as” का Negative = “No sooner … than” होता हैं ।
Structure : No sooner + did + sub + verb +than +clause.
