 Q6. Combine the following sentences into a compound sentence:
The animal may be a fish. It may be a serpent. It must be one of them.
Ans. → The animal may be a fish or it may be a serpent.
(Compound sentence में दो independent clauses को “or “conjunction द्वारा जोड़ा जाता है।)
Q7. Combine the following sentences into a complex sentence:
He lives somewhere. I do not know it.
Ans. → I do not know where he lives.
(Complex sentence में एक main clause और एक या एक से अधिक subordinate clauses होते हैं।)
यहाँ where का use करके depend clause( where he lives ) को main clause ( I do not know) से connect किया गया हैं।

(8). Change the following into a
‘Past indefinite Tense’
“I do not know where he lives.’’
Ans : I did not know where he lived.
Past Indefinite Tense में “do not know” को “did not know” में और “lived” को “lived” में change किया जाता है।)

(9). Change the following into
‘Past Continuous Tense’
“He went to Agra yesterday”
Ans – He was going to Agra yesterday .
(Past continuous tense में verb के साथ ‘was/were’ और ‘ing’ form का use होता है & ‘went’ का ‘Past Continuous’ ‘was going’ है।
(10). Complete the following sentence using the correct form of the verb given in the bracket:
The doctor ____ after the patient had died. (come)
Ans- The doctor came after the patient had died.
(यह Past Perfect tense का सही example है, जहाँ एक action (Patient had died) दूसरे action (Doctor came) के पहले हुआ; जो action बाद में हुआ, वो past indefinite में आता है।)

(11). Fill in the gap using the correct form of the Verbs given in the bracket:
Shyam will have left for Mumbai before the rainy season …….(begin)
Ans- Shyam will have left for Mumbai before the rainy season begins.
(Future Perfect tense के साथ अक्सर ‘before’ के बाद simple present tense का use किया जाता है।)
Short Answer type questions

(12.) What is the difference between an ‘Adjective’ and ‘Adverb’? Define at least, with one example of each.

Ans- Adjective – A word which modify noun / pronoun.
(adjective वो शब्द होते है, जो क्रिया या सर्वनाम का विशेषता बताता है। जैसे – ‘कैसा’, ‘कौन सा’)कितना जैसे question का answer देता है.
Ex → She had a beautiful dress (यहां ‘Beautiful’ dress की quality बता रहा)
Adverb
A word which modify Verb, adjective, or even adverb.
(Adverb वो शब्द होते है, जो Verb, adjective,
adverb को modify करता है. यह ‘कैसे’, ‘कब’, ‘कहां’, ‘किस हद तक’ जैसे question का answer देता है.)
Ex- He runs quickly. (यहां ‘quickly’ ‘run Verb’ को modify कर रहा)

13) Fill in the blanks with the correct preposition:
i- Death is preferable ….dishonour.
Ans- Death is preferable to dishonour.
ii)- He is confident …..winning.
Ans- He is confident of winning.
(कुछ words के साथ fixed preposition का use होता है, Preferable के साथ ‘to’ और confident के साथ ‘of’ का use होता है.
14-Use the following phrases in the sentence of your own and to bring out their meanings clearly:
i)- to pass the buck
Ans- To pass the buck: The manager always tried to pass the buck to his subordinates when something went wrong. ( किसी पर blame डालना / responsibility se बचना।)
ii) take after
Ans- Take after: She takes after her mother in her love for music, (किसी के जैसा होना, especially habits या qualities)

(15)- Correct the following Sentences:
(i) No sooner did the Police reach When the thieves ran away.
(ii) Ram as well as his father were not present in the meeting.
And- (i) No sooner did the police reach than the thieves ran away.
(ii) Ram as well as his father was not present in the meeting.
(‘No sooner’ के साथ हमेसा than का use होता है were का नहीं) (जब ‘as well as’ का प्रयोग होता है, तो Verb first Subject के अनुसार आती है, यहाँ Ram Singular है, इसलिए ‘was’ आएगा।)

The ideal teacher is the one who inspires students to study and live a good life. He is not only a guide but also a true friend to his students.

This teacher is well-educated and has deep knowledge of his subject. He always keeps learning new things and shares them with us.
Nature and Behaviour
His nature is polite, kind and Helpful: He treats all students equally and understands their problems with patience.
His Teaching Skills and Hobbies
He explains lessons with simple examples and stories. His teaching is interesting and easy to understand
Conclusion
I respect my ideal teacher very much. He is a role model for me and I wish to follow his path in life.
